Dunhuang Arts Academy was established in November 2014. It is a diverse learning and performance venue in Melbourne dedicated to promoting traditional Chinese and Western music and culture. Our goal is to foster talent, preserve nature, promote culture, and strive for excellence in music. We offer a wide range of music courses and training programs for students and music enthusiasts of all levels, from beginners to VCE/IB standards, with a systematic and comprehensive educational approach. Our music courses cover various Chinese and Western instruments, including the guzheng, erhu, flute, pipa, piano, violin, and clarinet. In addition to instrument teaching and sales, the center also provides high-quality instruction in dance, traditional painting and calligraphy, sports (such as Chinese go, tai chi, martial arts), and language courses. We regularly organize concerts, performances, lectures, and cultural exchange activities, with a commitment to providing a comprehensive platform for the development and enhancement of students' overall artistic cultivation.

Form 1: Folk music drama (around 30 minutes)
“The Concert in the Forest” tells that bunny Bunnie wanted to have a concert in the forest, so she was looking for partners in the forest. She separately met the deer (the Pipa Player), the pony (the Erhu player), the little bird (the Dizi player), and the whale (the Guzheng player). When she met the deer, the deer played the Pipa music “Happy” which was like deer was jumping cheerfully, and then we introduce Pipa. When she met the pony, the pony played the Erhu music "Horse Racing" which was like ponies were running, and then we introduce Erhu. When she met the little birds, the little bird played the Dizi music "Empty Space Mountain Bird Twitter" which was like the various sounds of birds, and then we introduce Dizi. When she met the whale, the whale played the Guzheng music "High Mountain and Running River" which was like a small river was flowing, and then we introduce Guzheng.
When she found all instrumentalists, little band would have an ensemble.
After the performance of the folk music drama, students can interact with the performers, and everyone could try to play the instruments. (The instruments that can be experienced include children's Erhu, Erhu, Children's Pipa, Pipa, small Guzheng, Guzheng, Dizi, Chinese Drum,
etc.)

Form 2: Small-Class teaching (around 60 minutes)
In the normal course time of the school, Dunhuang teacher will cooperate with school
Chinese teacher to teach students a music little track or small work.
Currently we recommend learning small Guzheng.
Course could be:
1. Folk music teaching:
‘Guzheng’ teaching: 20 students as a group
‘Erhu’ teaching: 5 students as a group
‘Xiaolonggu’ teaching: 10 students as a group

2. Chinese painting teaching: 20 students as a group
For example, drawing panda, bamboo, etc.
3. Calligrapy teaching: 20 students as a group
4. Chinese folk dance teaching: 20 students as a group
For example, Mongolian dance, or Xinjiang dance, etc.

Form 4: Lecture (around 60 minutes)
In the normal course time of the school, the Chinese teacher is the main teacher. The folk music teacher cooperates with the Chinese teacher to give a lecture on folk music knowledge and performance.
In the lecture the folk music teachers of Australia Dunhuang Arts Academy will play the instruments and introduce the instruments in English. And answer the students’ questions,
and also play the instruments in conjunction with the questions. Chinese traditional musical instruments such as Erhu, Guzheng, Pipa, Dizi, and Chinese drum can be introduced in one lesson. Students can interact with the performers and experience instruments at the end of the
lecture. The Instruments that can be experienced include children's Erhu, Erhu, children, Pipa, small Guzheng, Guzheng, Dizi, Chinese Drum, etc.
