FLUTE
The flute is a woodwind instrument known for its high-pitched, clear tone, which makes it one of the most recognizable and widely used instruments in both orchestral and solo performances. Unlike other woodwinds that use reeds, the flute produces sound when the player blows air across the opening of the instrument's headjoint, creating vibrations within the cylindrical tube.
Originating in its earliest form thousands of years ago, the modern concert flute is most commonly made of metal—silver or gold—though earlier versions and some folk variants are made of wood. The instrument has undergone significant developments over the centuries, including the addition of the Boehm system in the 19th century, which introduced a complex arrangement of keys and pads that allow for a more versatile and accurate pitch control, enhancing the flute's chromatic abilities.
